These jobs can include positions such as laborers, carpenters, electricians, or supervisors, and may involve tasks like building, repairing, or renovating structures. Weekend construction work is commonly sought after by students, part-time workers, or professionals looking to supplement their income. These jobs may also offer flexibility or premium pay rates due to the non-traditional schedule.

Weekend construction workers often face the challenge of condensed timelines, as projects need to be completed within a limited period while minimizing disruption to weekday operations. This can lead to fast-paced work environments that require efficient planning and strong teamwork. To manage these challenges, clear communication with supervisors and colleagues is essential, as is being adaptable and prepared for unexpected changes. Ensuring familiarity with safety protocols and making effective use of available resources can also help maintain productivity and safety during weekend shifts.

Do weekend construction jobs work on weekends?

Location: Alta Vista, KS -- Field-based work on construction projects throughout the surrounding Kansas communities.

Build Work That Stands for Decades

K Construction is a family-owned Kansas builder and general contractor established in 1994. Our team constructs custom homes, barndominiums, agricultural buildings, commercial spaces, shops, steel-frame buildings, and historic renovations. We hire for the long term and value people who take ownership of their work, enjoy working with their hands, and stand behind what they build.

K Construction is looking for a dependable and hardworking Building Crew Member to join our construction team.

In this role, you will work alongside experienced crew members to build post-frame, steel-frame, residential, agricultural, and commercial structures. You will assist with projects throughout the construction process, from preparing the jobsite and handling materials to framing, installing building components, and completing finish work.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced construction worker or a motivated individual who wants to develop valuable skills and build a long-term career in the trades.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the construction of post-frame, steel-frame, residential, agricultural, and commercial buildings
  • Prepare jobsites, tools, equipment, and materials for daily work
  • Measure, cut, assemble, and install building materials and components
  • Assist with framing, roofing, siding, trim, doors, windows, and related construction tasks
  • Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely
  • Follow project plans and instructions from crew leaders and foremen
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites
  • Work effectively with the crew to keep projects on schedule
  • Complete work according to K Construction's quality standards

Qualifications

  • Previous construction, carpentry, framing, roofing, agricultural building, or general labor experience is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools, materials, and jobsite safety
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic
  • Willingness to learn new construction skills and techniques
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions
  • Ability to lift, carry, climb, bend, and perform physically demanding work
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred

Pay and Benefits

  • Full-time. W-2 employee
  • $18-$25 per hour, depending on experience
  • Steady, year-round work
  • Weekly pay
  • Health insurance
  • Bad Weather / Paid time off
  • Retirement plan
  • Aflac benefits
  • On-the-job training and skill development
  • Opportunities for advancement within the company
  • Local and regional Kansas projects that allow employees to return home at night

Why K Construction?

K Construction is not a revolving door--we hire people we intend to keep and develop. Many members of our team have been with the company for years because we provide steady work, dependable crews, and opportunities to grow. You will work on real Kansas projects alongside people who care about craftsmanship and take pride in every building they complete.
