Description
General Purpose:
The Assistant Director of Facilities supports the mission of the church and school by leading the daily operations of all campuses and supervising the Facilities Team. This role ensures campuses are clean, safe, functional, and fully prepared for school days, weekend services, and ministry events. The Assistant Director focuses on execution, accountability, and team leadership while partnering closely with the Director of Facilities on projects, planning, and departmental goals.
Essential Job Functions:
Daily Facility Operations
  • Oversee day-to-day facilities operations across all campuses
  • Conduct routine campus walkthroughs and inspections
  • Ensure buildings and grounds are clean, safe, and fully operational
  • Manage daily priorities and task assignments for Facilities Technicians
  • Ensure readiness for school operations, services, and events

Maintenance & Repairs
  • Coordinate and oversee routine maintenance and minor repairs
  • Ensure timely completion of preventative maintenance tasks
  • Troubleshoot facility issues and coordinate solutions
  • Escalate major repairs and capital needs to the Director of Facilities

Event & Ministry Support
  • Coordinate facilities support for weekend services, school activities, and special events
  • Ensure timely setup and breakdown of rooms, equipment, and campus spaces
  • Partner with ministry and school leaders to support event needs

Systems & Work Order Management
  • Manage the work order / maintenance request system
  • Assign, track, and follow up on service requests
  • Ensure timely communication and completion of requests
  • Maintain records of completed work and recurring needs

Safety & Compliance
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and report concerns
  • Ensure corrective actions are completed promptly
  • Support life-safety systems monitoring (AEDs, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, etc.)
  • Assist in maintaining campus readiness for emergencies and inspections

Inventory & Supplies
  • Track and maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of facilities equipment
  • Recommend purchases and replacements as needed

Team Support & Leadership
  • Directly supervise Facilities Technicians and custodial staff
  • Manage scheduling, attendance, and daily assignments
  • Enforce departmental policies and expectations
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new team members
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance support
  • Serve as point-of-contact when the Director of Facilities is unavailable

Professional Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; additional technical training preferred
  • Experience in facilities, maintenance, or operations
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond quickly to needs
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing preferred)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

What You Are Required to Know:

  • This is a full-time (40 hours/week) salary-exempt position.
  • This role requires presence on church and school campuses, oversight of staff and contractors, and occasional off-site meetings with vendors or inspection authorities. The role may involve extended hours during events, emergencies, or construction projects.
