Job description

Walker Building Group, LLC is seeking dependable Construction Laborers to join our underground utility construction team. This position supports daily jobsite operations by assisting crews with general labor, site preparation, cleanup, material handling, traffic control, and pipe-related construction tasks.

The ideal candidate is safety-minded, reliable, willing to work outdoors, and able to follow instructions in a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform jobsite setup, cleanup, and debris removal.
  • Use hand tools, shovels, rakes, and power tools as needed.
  • Load, unload, move, and organize materials and equipment.
  • Assist pipe layers, foremen, and equipment operators with daily tasks.
  • Assist with grading, trench work, and general groundwork.
  • Help set up and remove traffic control devices as needed.
  • Flag traffic when required.
  • Cut concrete or asphalt as needed, when trained.
  • Remove and replace sewer/manhole castings and covers.
  • Clean and properly store tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Identify and report jobsite hazards.
  • Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE.
  • Perform other construction labor duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous construction experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure.
  • Experience with hand tools and power tools preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow basic plans is a plus.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a crew.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, humidity, dust, and other jobsite conditions.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move more than 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working around moving equipment and loud jobsite environments.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, typically 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Overtime may be required based on project needs.

In addition to competitive hourly pay, this position is eligible to participate in Walker Building Group's Shared Profit Quarterly Bonus Program. Eligible employees may receive quarterly bonus payouts based on company performance and program eligibility requirements.

Quarterly bonuses are not guaranteed and are awarded at the discretion of the company based on overall company performance and the terms of the Shared Profit Bonus Program.
