Walker Building Group, LLC is seeking an experienced Underground Utility Pipe Layer to join our growing team. We specialize in underground utility construction throughout Middle Tennessee, installing storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water main systems for commercial, municipal, and residential projects.

What You'll Do

• Install storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and potable water main systems.
• Lay PVC, HDPE, DIP, RCP, CMP, and other underground utility piping.
• Install manholes, catch basins, inlets, junction boxes, valves, hydrants, and other utility structures.
• Read grade stakes, blueprints, and utility plans.
• Use pipe lasers, levels, and measuring equipment to maintain proper line and grade.
• Perform trench preparation, bedding, pipe installation, backfilling, and compaction.
• Assist with hydrostatic testing, chlorination, and flushing of water mains.
• Safely work around excavators, loaders, and other heavy equipment while communicating with operators.
• Follow OSHA trench safety regulations and company safety procedures.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and productive job site.

What We're Looking For

• Experience installing underground utilities (storm sewer, sanitary sewer, or water mains preferred).
• Ability to read a tape measure and construction plans.
• Experience using pipe lasers and grade equipment is preferred.
• Knowledge of trench safety and excavation practices.
• Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work in all weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to work well on a team.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

Performance Bonus Opportunity

At Walker Building Group, we believe in rewarding employees who contribute to our success. Eligible employees have the opportunity to earn performance-based bonuses based on individual performance, attendance, safety, quality of work, and company performance. Bonus eligibility is determined at the discretion of management and is not guaranteed.

Annual Compensation: The advertised annual pay range includes the employee's base wages plus the average annual performance bonus earned by employees in this position. Actual compensation will vary based on experience, hours worked, bonus eligibility, individual performance, and company performance. Performance bonuses are discretionary and are not guaranteed.

Work Environment

This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and involves standing, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, and working in trenches around heavy equipment. Proper PPE is required at all times.
