Overview / Responsibilities

Role Overview

Wood has a career opportunity for a Transportation Construction Inspector with our Denver, CO team.  Will support transportation projects primarily in the front range from Fort Collins to Pueblo.  May also support projects in other locations in Colorado and the Western US.

Our ideal candidate has superb technical capabilities, a commitment to delivering a quality product and the ability to provide expert service to key clientele.  We are ideally seeking an experienced Construction Inspector but will train as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Will perform field inspections and observations for transportation projects in the front range, other Colorado locations and the Western US.
  • Will provide daily reports of observation and test results.
  • Will monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications.
  • Will notify contractor and Engineer of non-compliance with the plans and specifications.
  • Will measure/quantify items as completed and prepare reports for progress payments.
  • Will interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites.
  • Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data.
  • Assist in the preparation of punch lists, non-conformance reports, final documentation and as-constructed plans.
  • Develops and completes project documentation using a computer. Will work with client specific software such as One Note and AASHTOWare Project SiteManager.
  • Will travel and work at construction sites within the Colorado and the Western United States. Depending on location, travel, hotel and per diem provided for field assignments.
Skills / Qualifications
  • Extensive field experience or BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related degree
  • 2 to 15+ years of transportation construction experience.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus including construction inspection certifications and materials testing certification
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic plans and specifications.
  • Ability to prepare reports and documentation.
  • Proficient computer skills required. Must be able to work with client specific software such as One Note and AASHTOWare Project SiteManager.
  • Ability to work with a team.
  • Reliability - must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work at construction sites within the Colorado and the Western United States.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to walk on uneven ground and work in variable outside conditions.
  • Ability to work various shifts depending upon construction schedules.
  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.
