Job description

JobSummary:
The Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of facility and equipment electrical systems. This includes low and medium voltage distribution, lighting, wiring, conduit, and motor connections. The Electrician ensures safe, code-compliant operation of electrical infrastructure and supports reliable power delivery to critical manufacturing equipment. This role works closely with maintenance and engineering teams to support plant uptime and continuous improvement.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems including conduit, wiring, switchgear, panels, motors, and lighting
  • Performs electrical inspections and preventive maintenance on facility and equipment wiring systems
  • Troubleshoots electrical issues on production machinery, panels, motors, and circuits
  • Interprets electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and panel layouts
  • Ensures compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and company safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO)
  • Assists in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and facility systems
  • Maintains documentation of maintenance, inspections, and modifications in CMMS
  • Supports coordination with contractors and vendors during electrical projects or upgrades
  • Participates in root cause analysis for recurring electrical failures and implement corrective actions
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support company and department goals

RequiredEducation,Training,&Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a state-approved electrical apprenticeship program or vocational training in electrical systems
  • Valid state-issued Journeyman Electrician License, or the ability and willingness to obtain licensure within a designated timeframe
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an industrial or commercial electrician in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with single-phase and three-phase power systems up to 480V
  • Experience with motor controls, relays, starters, and electrical panels
  • Proficiency in interpreting electrical codes, schematics, and safety standards

Required Skills,Knowledge,and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of industrial power distribution and wiring practices
  • Skilled in conduit bending, panel wiring, motor installation, and lighting systems
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, and OSHA electrical safety protocols
  • Ability to use electrical testing equipment including multimeters, megohmmeters, and circuit tracers
  • Competent in documentation, CMMS use, and following standard operating procedures
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing environment with exposure to electrical cabinets, machinery, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, crouch, and stand for extended periods; occasionally lift materials up to 25 lbs. and rarely up to 60 lbs. as needed
  • Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) including arc-rated gear, gloves, safety shoes, and safety glasses
  • Visual acuity to read schematics, digital meters, and component labels
  • Manual dexterity for wiring, conduit installation, and working in confined areas
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or off shifts as required to support facility uptime
  • Ability to work flexible shifts in a two-shift operation or rotating schedule if required
