Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA)
Location: Brooklyn Park, Maryland (Onsite)
Work Type: Contract
Schedule: As per facility schedule
Hours: Full-Time / As Assigned
Shift Details
• Shift: As per facility requirements (Day/Night/Rotational)
• Schedule: As assigned by facility
• Hours: Typically 36-40 hours per week
The Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) is responsible for providing direct patient care and support to elderly residents in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
This role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring their condition, and ensuring comfort, safety, and dignity while working under the supervision of nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Support
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
• Provide mobility support including transferring and positioning patients
• Ensure patient comfort and maintain a safe environment
Monitoring & Documentation
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
• Record vital signs and patient observations as required
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation
Clinical Assistance
• Assist nurses with basic patient care procedures
• Support infection control and hygiene practices
• Ensure proper use of medical equipment and supplies
Patient Interaction & Communication
• Provide emotional support and companionship to patients
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team
• Maintain patient dignity and confidentiality
Must-Have Qualifications
• Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) Certification - Preferred / Required as per state
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (Preferred)
• Experience working with elderly or long-term care patients
