Location Description

Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods.  We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds. 


Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

The Leads Person is responsible for working with the department supervisor on training of new and existing personnel, providing a safe work environment and assigning of work duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in training of all processing and production personnel in assigned department
  • Assists supervisor in updating training for existing personnel whenever equipment changes are instituted or news procedures are implemented
  • Helps in providing for a safe work environment for all personnel and helps ensure that all production complies with food safety standards as established by Michael Foods (Dry sanitation)
  • Works with supervisor to help maintain sanitation standards of facility
  • Assigns work tasks to department personnel
  • Load/Unload trucks
  • Basic inspection of material
  • Rotates/put away inventory
  • Pulls/set up material for production
  • Cycle counting daily and general organization of Packaging Warehouse
  • Identify and assist with shrink/damage investigation
  • Assists with safety audits to identify potential safety issues and participates in a Safety team
  • Interact with truck drivers and verify shipment accuracy and production personnel to meet product needs
  • Enter all receipts in SAP and investigate any discrepancies
  • Copy and distribute delivery documentation
  • Troubleshoot with production
  • Process STO and special shipments as needed
  • Interact with accounting to fix delivery discrepancies and cycle count variances
  • Vendor interaction when needed, if buyer out of office, shipment mistakes, delivery scheduling
  • Manages pulling material from off site warehouse to meet production needs
  • Scheduling deliveries with trucking companies
  • Assist with inventory management to ensure stock out for ingredients and packaging
  • Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks
  • Adheres to Quality work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained
  • Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality
  • Able to work overtime and holidays when needed
  • Insures regulatory compliance at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form
  • Self-motivated and a willingness to learn
  • Leadership and/or experience training new employees
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends (once a month) and willing to work an alternate shift
  • Must have basic computer skills (excel, word, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain forklift operator license
  • Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR training

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Capable of safely lifting 75 lbs on occasion
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty and humid environments
