Ghostworks Marine

Holland, MI • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 9 days ago

Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Marine Drafter / Engineering Support Technician to support our Holland production operations. This role bridges engineering design and production, providing CAD-based visual aids, dimensioned drawings, and tooling support that help translate design intent into efficient, high-quality production execution.

The ideal candidate will have strong CAD skills (Rhino), a good understanding of marine construction, and the ability to collaborate closely with production, engineering, and quality teams. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn our processes firsthand—spending the first three months on the production floor before transitioning fully into the drafting and support role—to ensure a deep understanding of our workflows, materials, and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop 2D and 3D CAD drawings using Rhino and AutoCAD to support marine production projects.
  • Create visuals, layouts, and dimensioned drawings to aid production teams in understanding complex assemblies.
  • Collaborate with engineers, naval architects, and production leads to translate design concepts into accurate shop-ready documentation.
  • Support 3D tooling and fixture development on flat tables for production.
  • Ensure all drawings meet company and industry quality, safety, and accuracy standards.
  • Work closely with the Quality Management System (QMS) team, assisting in documentation organization and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Revise and update designs based on feedback from engineering and shop floor teams.
  • Configure CAD files to “built drawings” for bill of materials.
  • Prepare bills of materials and assist with process documentation and standardization.
  • Support the ongoing development of company drafting standards and best practices.

Training and Onboarding:

  • Spend approximately three months on the production floor learning company processes, construction methods, and quality standards before transitioning into the primary drafting/support role.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • Proven proficiency in Rhino and familiarity with AutoCAD or other 3D CAD tools.
  • Understanding of drafting techniques, manufacturing methods, and marine construction practices.
  • Strong visual communication and spatial reasoning skills.
  • Ability to interpret and create accurate technical drawings and documentation.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills to interface with engineering, production, and quality teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the marine and composite boat building/manufacturing industry.
  • Exposure to QMS systems and process documentation.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling, tooling, and fixture design.
