Key Characteristics

Position Description
St. Augustine Preparatory Academy is seeking a mission-driven candidate who is passionate about serving Jesus and dedicated to maintaining and stewarding our campus facilities to empower in their educational journey. This individual should possess a proactive, service-oriented mindset, committed to doing whatever it takes to meet the needs of our school community.
This employee is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of the facility and its associated systems and equipment. A wide variety of skills are needed, including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, landscaping, and custodial. The successful candidate will have at least two years of related experience, strong working knowledge of building maintenance, exceptional attention to detail, the ability to manage building maintenance, and excellent problem solving skills. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are preferred.
This position primarily requires second shift hours, from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM on Tuesday through Friday. Saturday primarily requires first shift hours, from 7:00AM to 3:30PM. While these are the standard hours, we offer some flexibility and are open to discussing individual scheduling needs during the interview process to accommodate the right candidate. Occasional pre/post shift hours may be required as well due to emergency situations.
General Responsibilities and Roles
  • Coordinate appropriate facilities set-up and tear down of equipment (special events, guest speakers, athletic events, etc.).
  • Maintain the appearance and functionality of the building, grounds, fields, lawns, and other assigned areas.
  • Perform general cleaning, disinfecting, sanitizing of the facility, and trash/recycling removal.
  • Coordinate with night/weekend cleaning personnel.
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks and inspections of systems within the facilities.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Perform repairs and renovations to plumbing, electrical systems, doors, windows, flooring, etc.
  • Maintain school vans (schedule appointments and take vehicles in for routine maintenance) and other operational equipment.
  • Communicate effectively to promote positive staff and student relationships.
  • Develop strong relationships with vendors and coordinate vendor visits to complete work orders.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment, supplies, and other necessary items required to perform duties assigned.

Mechanical Responsibilities
  • Program and control of digital HVAC and lighting control platforms.
  • Repair and maintenance of HVAC equipment.
  • Repair and maintenance of fire and security systems.
  • Repair and maintenance of boilers and water heaters.
  • Repair and maintenance of pumps, filters, and drives.
  • Repair and maintenance of exhaust fans, burners, and other kitchen equipment.

Required Qualifications:
  • Alignment with Aug Prep Statement of Faith and North Star.

  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent; some college in a related field is preferred.
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ideally, have at least two years of experience in related maintenance work or equivalent.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Demonstrate computer proficiency using Google Sheets and other Google programs.
