The Organization

Wellspring is a church rooted in Scripture, alive in the Spirit, and formed by liturgy. As part of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA), Wellspring values worship that is spiritually rich, deeply participatory, and centered around helping people encounter Jesus through both excellence and authenticity.

The team is seeking a Music Director who can strengthen and sustain the worship ministry through musical leadership, volunteer development, pastoral care, and dependable systems. This individual will help cultivate a worship culture that is spiritually grounded, relationally healthy, and musically unified.

The Position

The Music Director will support the worship ministry by leading and coordinating musicians, preparing worship resources, organizing systems and schedules, and helping build a healthy volunteer culture.

This person will serve as the primary Sunday Music Director, helping create cohesive worship experiences that support congregational singing and engagement. The ideal candidate is both musically gifted and relationally mature, able to balance excellence, preparation, and pastoral care while thriving in a collaborative church environment.

This role requires a high level of organization, emotional intelligence, initiative, and spiritual maturity.

Responsibilities Worship Leadership & Music Direction
  • Serve as Sunday Music Director 3–4 Sundays per month, leading rehearsals and providing in-service musical direction, transitions, and cues
  • Regularly provide technical band leadership and musical direction for designated worship leaders who are vocally or pastorally leading services
  • Collaborate on setlists, keys, arrangements, and service flow alongside worship and liturgy teams
  • Coordinate with worship tech, production, and service teams to ensure weekend readiness
  • Plan and/or lead worship for additional services and church events as needed
  • Create and communicate musical arrangements clearly and effectively
Volunteer Leadership & Team Development
  • Foster a healthy, encouraging, and spiritually grounded volunteer culture
  • Recruit, audition, onboard, and develop musicians and vocalists
  • Coach volunteers toward growth in skill, confidence, preparation, and spiritual maturity
  • Manage scheduling for musicians and vocalists with strong communication and adequate lead time
  • Build team depth through developing substitute players and future leaders
  • Help facilitate periodic team gatherings and connection opportunities alongside the Worship Tech Director
Systems, Resources & Administration
  • Maintain worship resources including charts, tracks, templates, and song libraries
  • Manage Planning Center, ProPresenter, Multitracks, licensing compliance (CCLI/CVLI), and related systems
  • Ensure worship slides, lyrics, liturgy, and service flow are accurate and organized
  • Oversee worship equipment organization, maintenance, troubleshooting, and inventory
  • Support process improvements, workflow consistency, and strong administrative follow-through
Qualifications Experience & Background
  • 5+ years of church worship ministry leadership experience preferred
  • Full-time worship ministry experience strongly preferred
  • Degree in worship ministry, music, or related field preferred
  • Strong musical ability including vocal proficiency and high-level competency on piano and/or guitar
  • Experience leading rehearsals, arranging music, and directing musicians in live worship environments
  • Experience developing and pastoring volunteer teams
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage schedules, deadlines, and details consistently
  • Familiarity with worship and production tools such as Planning Center, ProPresenter, Multitracks, playback/click systems, and basic audio workflows
  • Strong emotional intelligence and collaborative leadership style
  • Ability to receive feedback well and navigate conflict in a healthy, mature way
  • Shepherding mindset with volunteers and teams
Spiritual Requirements
  • Alignment with Wellspring's theology and the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA)
  • Comfortable leading within a "three streams" worship environment rooted in Scripture, liturgy, and the movement of the Holy Spirit
  • Active and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Active participation in the life of the church, including worship services, community involvement, outreach, and small groups
  • Willingness to sign and uphold Wellspring's Statement of Faith, Staff Lifestyle Agreement, and employee policies
Compensation, Schedule & Benefits
  • $75,000-80,000/yr
  • Full-time position: Schedule includes Sundays, rehearsals, worship events, and weekday office/ministry responsibilities
  • Health insurance, HSA Option
  • Dental insurance
