Job description

Job Summary

The Senior Underwriter, Reinsurance, will be part of the Westfield A&H Underwriting team. You will be responsible for underwriting Stop-Loss, Excess Reinsurance and other specialty products.

  • Reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer A&H, you will be a key contributor to the overall analysis and management of our new and renewal business.

  • You will work directly with brokers to successfully price and design quotes to acquire individual accounts and business produced through MGA/MGU's.

  • You will manage the relationship and profitability of program business written through assigned Managing General Underwriters.

  • The senior underwriter will propose effective underwriting strategies across various product lines.

  • You will be part of and present new and renewal opportunities to our Peer Review team (UW, Actuarial, Claims).

  • Contribute to the development and execution of our underwriting strategies.

  • Developing strong relationships with our business partners is a key goal for the department (Brokers, TPAs, vendors, etc.) You will manage specific assigned relationships.

  • Engage with brokers and customers in-person when needed

  •       Participate in new product development as part of the A&H team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, plus 8-10 years of professional experience in the A&H business with demonstrated knowledge of Stop Loss and Excess Reinsurance
  • Strong current technical knowledge of Employer Stop Loss 
  • Established broker relationships 
  • Program management experience
