The role focuses on carpentry, painting, and related finish work, ensuring a safe, attractive, and functional learning and work environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Construct, install, and repair doors, windows, locks, cabinets, shelving, furniture, and fixtures.Perform framing, trimming, drywall patching, and finishing work on campus structures.Inspect and maintain woodwork, ceilings, and other building components.Prepare surfaces by sanding, patching, cleaning, and primingApply paints, stains, varnishes, and coatings to interior and exterior surfaces.Assist with furniture moves, event setups, and light maintenance when needed.Maintain an inventory of carpentry and paint supplies and ensure proper tool useRespond to service requests and complete work orders in a timely, professional manner  QUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma or equivalent.Minimum 3 years of experience.Valid driver's license.Ability to meet or exceed the University's attendance and punctuality standards.Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment.Knowledge of building materials, finishes, and methods for carpentry and painting WORKING CONDITIONSExposure to dust, paint fumes, and outdoor weather conditions.Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and lifting.May require evening or weekend work for emergencies or special events.  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work indoors and outdoors.Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontally, climbing, walking, etc., as job may require.  USG Core Values Statement The University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning, as well as the System Office.
