The Contract HME Service Technician at Give Home Medical Equipment is responsible for the timely and efficient delivery, setup, and demonstration of home medical equipment (HME) and durable medical equipment (DME) for patients in their homes. This role involves educating patients and caregivers on the proper use and maintenance of equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with all regulatory standards. The HME Service Technician is an "on-call" position, requiring availability before or after regular business hours and on weekends to meet patient needs.  This position requires access to secure storage space (residential or commercial) to receive, unpack, and set up, items that are going to patient homes.

Essential Functions:
  • Deliver, set up, and assemble various types of home medical and durable medical equipment (HME/DME), including hospital beds, wheelchairs, oxygen concentrators, CPAP devices, and other related equipment, at patients' homes.
  • Install DME/HME Items in Patient homes including Grab Bars, Handheld Shower Heads, etc.
  • Provide thorough education to patients and caregivers on the proper use, maintenance, and safety precautions for the equipment delivered.
  • Conduct equipment checks to ensure functionality and safety prior to delivery and setup.
  • Clean, disinfect, and perform functional checks on all medical equipment before and after delivery.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment, both at the patient's home and upon return.
  • Respond to emergency and on-call requests for equipment delivery, repair, or replacement, including during nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Document patient interactions, including the services provided, equipment setup, patient education, and any outcomes related to care.
  • Complete and maintain accurate documentation of all deliveries, setups, patient education, and equipment maintenance according to company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, manufacturer guidelines, and federal and state regulations related to HME/DME services.
  • Report any malfunctions, repairs, or patient concerns to management and take immediate steps to resolve issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized delivery vehicle and ensure proper handling and storage of equipment during transport.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required
  • Vehicle Requirements: Owns and has consistent access to a truck, van, or large SUV that will accommodate large DME items and equipment.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a medical equipment delivery, maintenance, or similar role is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Detailed knowledge of how to set up, assemble, and troubleshoot hospital beds, wheelchairs, oxygen concentrators, CPAP supplies, and other HME/DME.
  • Software Experience: Experience with Brightree (Mobile Delivery & Transport Manager) Preferred.
  • Customer Service: Strong ability to interact compassionately and professionally with patients and caregivers, providing clear instructions and support.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 100 pounds) and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • On-Call Availability: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet patient needs.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to document deliveries, educate patients, and communicate with team members.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve them quickly in the field.
  • Driving Requirements: Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
 
Additional Information:
  • This position involves potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, blood, or other potentially infectious materials. Personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye and face protection, gowns, gloves, and N95 respirators, may be required
  •  This position is a 1099 independent contractor role. Compensation is paid per delivery, not hourly and not as a salaried employee. If you are willing to work under these terms feel free to apply.
