Job description

The Marine Service Mechanic will be highly skilled in repairing boats at our service locations. This role requires a service-minded boat enthusiast with an entrepreneurial spirit, committed to upholding Gordy’s reputation for excellence and innovation in customer service. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, professional team environment, putting customers first. They work well under pressure, are organized, flexible to work long hours including weekends, and maintain a positive attitude toward staff, management, and ownership.

Essential Job Duties:
· Work on:
o Mercruiser, Volvo Inboard/Outboards
o Ilmor, Indmar Inboards
o Mercury and Yamaha Outboards
o Systems on 30’ and larger
o Cobalt, Malibu, Axis, Everglades, and Mastercraft Boats
o Used Product/Trades
· Conduct service calls
· Complete all major and minor mechanical repairs.
· Boat Maintenance
· Prep and Rigging boats
· Accessories installations
· Warranty work
· Follow manufacturer’s warranty policies and procedures in all warranty work.
· Shop Inspections
· Document all customer repair needs on the service work order.
· Furnish own hand tools essential for the job.

Qualifications:
· 3 to 5 years of experience as a mechanic
· Proven experience repairing and servicing boats, including engines, electrical systems, and onboard equipment
· Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
· Knowledge of marine systems, safety standards, and best practices
· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
· Excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor
· Relevant certifications or technical training preferred (e.g., ABYC, ASE, or manufacturer-specific certifications)

Physical Requirements:
· In tight quarters, inside boats, for the majority of the day
· Standing/Moving occasionally

Travel Requirements:
· Service calls, if applicable
· Training, when applicable

Work Schedule Requirements:
· Monday – Friday 8 am to 5 pm
· Off season, opportunity to work Monday – Thursday 7 am to 5 pm
· Full-time schedule with potential overtime during peak seasons.

***Pay Range starts at $22 - $25/hour, plus billables and possibly bonuses
