Job description

Piper Companies is seeking a Research Scientist I - Virology & Immunology to join a cutting-edge government-focused research program within the infectious disease and biodefense space for an onsite 6-month contract to hire engagement based out of Frederick, MD. The Research Scientist I - Virology & Immunology will contribute to critical laboratory studies supporting vaccine, therapeutic, and antiviral development in a highly regulated and fast-paced environment. Responsibilities for the Research Scientist I - Virology & Immunology include: · Support preclinical research studies by executing laboratory experiments across various biosafety levels, contributing to infectious disease research efforts.

· Conduct downstream analysis using a variety of immunological and molecular assays to evaluate viral behavior and immune responses. · Develop and maintain complex in vitro cell models, including advanced systems such as organoids and other physiologically relevant platforms. · Collaborate with cross-functional scientific teams to analyze data, prepare reports, and present findings to internal stakeholders.

· Ensure compliance with strict laboratory safety protocols, maintain inventory of biological materials, and assist with regulatory and operational requirements. Qualifications for the Research Scientist I - Virology & Immunology include: · Master's degree in a life sciences discipline such as virology, microbiology, immunology, or a closely related field. · At least 5 years of hands-on laboratory experience following completion of an advanced degree.

· Demonstrated experience performing virology-related studies, including immune-based assays and molecular lab techniques. · Strong background working with advanced cell culture techniques and complex experimental systems. · Eligibility to obtain a U.S.

security clearance and willingness to complete required federal reliability programs. Compensation for the Research Scientist I - Virology & Immunology: Salary Range: $40-$45/hr (USD) Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401K options This job opens for applications on 5/29/26.
