Summary of Primary Functions: A Structural BIM (Building Information Modeling) Designer professional uses digital tools to create, manage, and coordinate 3D models based on contract drawings issued by a general contractor or an owner, or based on a combination of preliminary Value Engineered drawings prepared by Tindall sales team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products.

  • Read contract drawings and specifications.

  • Prepare a list of items that needs to be verified by the Salesman, Estimator, Project Manager, or General Contractor.

  • Attend Client Turnover Meeting (CTO) or attend early in-house kick-off meeting.

  • Conduct coordination of meetings with architects, engineers, and contractors.

  • Analyze, project, and prepare a time management plan for completion dates.

  • Prepare a project binder for project related documents.

  • Issue Bill of Materials with long lead items.

  • Prepare and issue all material orders to support project schedule.

  • Prepare, receive, maintain, and issue RFIs and emails.

  • Converse via email, telephone, or in person General Contractor, Project Architect, and Project Engineer, and issue an email what was discussed after each conversation.

  • Detail Cover Sheet, Foundation Plans, Framing Plans, Elevation Drawings & Details using 3-D modeling software as required and work closely with Project Engineer as details are developed.

  • Issue Erection Drawings and Details to the General Contractor or Owner for approval.

  • Confer with 3D Designers regarding steel and/or shop cards detailing progress.

  • Receive, approved or revise & resubmit drawings from the General Contractor or Owner and notify project management when marked changes should result in a change of order.

  • Direct 3D Designers on what to detail, such as Shop Cards, and check the work of detailers on the job.

  • Work closely with production regarding conforming restraints.

  • Coordinate Shop Card issuing sequence with Production Planning.

  • Advise Engineering manager of problems and progress.

  • Issue "For Construction" drawings and details.

  • Detail Repair Work Orders (RWO) from sketches/markups provided by Project Engineer.


Job Specifications or Qualifications:
Certificates, Licenses, Registration: Training and/or certification in Autodesk Revit or SolidWorks.

Education: Bachelor's or associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Construction, or a related discipline preferred

Experience: 3 to 5 years of related experience is required.
