Weekend BIM jobs refer to positions that involve Building Information Modeling (BIM) work, but are specifically scheduled for weekends. These roles are ideal for professionals or students seeking part-time work or those who wish to supplement their weekday employment. Weekend BIM professionals may assist with 3D modeling, project coordination, or updating construction documentation using BIM software. Employers may require familiarity with industry-standard tools like Revit, Navisworks, or AutoCAD. Such jobs provide flexibility while allowing individuals to gain valuable experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction industries.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend BIM specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend BIM Specialist, you need proficiency in architectural or engineering design principles, a relevant degree, and experience with BIM methodologies. Expertise in software like Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and familiarity with clash detection or model coordination tools is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you collaborate on projects and address issues efficiently. These competencies are crucial for delivering accurate digital models, ensuring project timelines are met, and supporting successful teamwork during weekend operations.

You'll work closely with project managers, engineers, field personnel, and design teams to identify and resolve conflicts before construction begins, supporting successful project delivery from preconstruction through closeout.

Responsibilities
  • Create, update, and maintain detailed electrical BIM models for commercial construction projects.
  • Develop shop drawings, installation drawings, layout plans, and prefabrication drawings from construction documents.
  • Perform clash detection using BIM software and coordinate with other trades to resolve design conflicts before installation.
  • Review electrical plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure model accuracy and constructability.
  • Produce conduit layouts, sleeve drawings, hanger details, equipment layouts, and other installation support documents.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, engineers, architects, and VDC teams throughout each project.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and incorporate design revisions, RFIs, and field updates into project models.
  • Maintain accurate BIM models throughout construction and assist with as-built documentation upon project completion.
  • Ensure all models and drawings comply with company BIM standards, project requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Meet project deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Experience modeling electrical systems for commercial construction projects.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  • Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, conduit routing, equipment layouts, and installation practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Experience with clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Associate degree, technical training, or equivalent experience in BIM, drafting, electrical design, or a related field preferred.
  • Commercial electrical construction experience required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Paid time off and company-paid holidays.
  • Opportunities for career growth and professional development.
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment.
  • Consistent pipeline of commercial electrical projects.
  • Opportunity to work on complex, high-profile construction projects utilizing advanced BIM technology.
