Job description

JOB SUMMARY  

The Central Campus Kids Pastor is responsible for leading the Kids ministry teams of Community Bible Church to minister to children (birth through 5th grade). He/She will recruit, train, and empower staff and volunteer leaders.  They are expected to serve as an ambassador for Kids Ministry to the other departments of CBC and serve on the ministry operations leadership team. He/She must be comfortable speaking to large groups of people, have experience in leadership development, and team building.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee hiring, alignment, and responsibilities of key staff. 
  • Envision and plan new projects, including long-term goal and strategy planning. 
  • Responsible for cultural architecture for the ministry as a whole, casting vision for both staff and volunteers. 
  • Hold weekly staff meetings and oversee a team of key leaders within the ministry, including personal discipleship, goal-setting and accountability, problem-solving, and leadership coaching.
  • Oversee, protect, and promote the doctrinal integrity of Kids staff and programming. 
  • Develop relationships with parents of involved children and youth to provide guidance in the whole family system as needed  
  • Coordinate communication for the children's ministry through social media, emails, etc. 
  • Help develop and create systems that fall in line with the organization structure 
  • Partner with parents to help them become Disciples of Christ, with the purpose of evangelism and discipleship  
  • Communicate the overall vision, goals, and strategy of the Kids ministries to the parents and the church  
  • Maintain regular administrative duties, i.e. (email, reports, budgeting, etc...)  
  • Network with other churches and Kids pastors to stay current with church trends. 
  • Prayer and preparation for large group teaching. 
  • Writing and editing of various teaching guides and worksheets for ministry activities. 
  • Ensure the overall quality and safety of all kids' environments and facilities. 
  • Administer budgets within the Birth'- 5th grade departments. 
  • Supervise Kids' ministry during weekend service hours and Wednesday midweek activities. 
  • Maintain a partnership with other departments and ministries to ensure organizational clarity.  
  • Maintain personal accountability and relationships with staff members. 
  • Maintain daily disciplines of Bible study, prayer and preparation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:  

Public speaking, sitting, keyboarding, visual w/monitor, walking, bending, stooping, occasional lifting 10-50 lbs, occasional events/activities outdoors in the heat, occasional events/activities requiring prolonged standing.  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Graduate Degree (preferred)  
  • 3-5 years experience as a Pastor to children, youth, or both  
  • Seminary experience (preferred)  
  • Preaching Experience (preferred)  

OTHER DUTIES  

  • Must exemplify The CBC Way of Honor, Hospitality, Hustle, High Capacity, and Humility.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and occasional special events.  
  • CBC Member, genuine desire to serve God and the Church or willingness to become one. 
  • Maintain daily disciplines of Bible study and prayer.
  • Must be a professing Christian.
  • Must live a life beyond reproach 1Timothy 3.  
  • Exhibits strong Christian character that demonstrates a close relationship with God through personal devotional, worship, and prayer life.  
  • Applicant must possess an excellent ability to communicate their Christian faith.
