Job Summary
Tuskegee University's Aviation Science Program seeks a dedicated and experienced aviation educator to serve as an Associate/Assistant Professor/lnstructor. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching ground school courses and other aviation-related subjects, contributing to the development of future aviators and aviation professionals.
Essential Job Duties
  • Teaching areas include private, instrument, and commercial ground schools, large transport category operations, crew resource management, aviation safety, aviation meteorology, aircraft systems, aerodynamics, aircraft structures, propulsion, stability and control, aircraft performance human factors, and other content areas brought forth through program expansion.
  • Develop and update course materials to align with FAA regulations and industry best practices.
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students pursuing an aviation career.
  • Engage in research, professional development, and service activities that contribute to the advancement of the program.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university committees as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with FAA regulations and university policies.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Earned MS (for instructor/assistant professor), PhD (for associate professor) in Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Science, Business, Education or other area appropriate ta the courses to be taught.
  • Active CFI, CFII, or Advanced Ground Instructor FAA certifications

Additional Desirable Qualifications:
  • At least two years of teaching experience of aviation courses at a college level or in a Part 141/61 flight school.
  • Industry experience as a commercial pilot, airline transport pilot (ATP), or related aviation field. Experience in curriculum development and accreditation processes.
