Job description

Position Summary:
Technical Specialist for installing new tooling for assigned area in an automotive manufacturing environment. Job requirements include the coordination of new model and tooling launches as well as improvement of current production processes.
Essential Functions:
  • Serve as technical expert of assigned area during new vehicle and/or tooling launches
  • Conducting feasibility studies and detailed confirmations of new manufacturing processes
  • Coordinate and lead project activities, including design, supplier selection, and implementation phases
  • Coordinate launch schedules and report progress and issues to senior management
  • Supporting the launch of the new vehicle during initial production stage
  • Continually review technical developments in area of responsibility and propose new technology projects as appropriate
  • FMEA development and implementation
  • Resolve safety, process and quality issues on new model launches
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.

Related Experience:
  • M inimum 2 years of experience as a design or launch/sustaining engineer, preferably in automotive (high volume).
  • Preferred experience with various manufacturing processes such as metal stamping, welding/brazing, and hemming.

Skills / Knowledge:
  • MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling. CATIA V5/V6 experience a plus but not mandatory.
  • GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Training / Certification:
  • Tool and Die training preferred.

Additional Information: Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility
