SUMMARY OF POSITION:
A C-Level Technician is an entry-to-intermediate level mechanic specializing in preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and lube services.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Result Area #1: Vehicle Repairs
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, fluid flushes, and filter replacements.
  • Minor Repairs: Replace tires, brakes, batteries, and light bulbs.
  • Inspections: Conduct multi-point inspections and test drives to ensure vehicle safety and functionality.
  • Diagnostic Assistance: Use basic diagnostic equipment to identify faults under the guidance of senior technicians. Diagnose basic automotive mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Support: Assist A and B level technicians with major repairs.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Performing oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and lubrication.
  • Basic Repairs: Handling minor repairs on brake systems, lighting, and exhaust systems.
  • Component R&I: Removing and Installing (R&I) basic chassis and engine components.
  • Shop Safety & Organization: Maintaining a clean workspace, tagging warranty parts, and managing tools.

Key Result Area #2: Performance
  • Maintain high accuracy (low comebacks) to ensure repairs are done correctly.
  • Work towards increasing efficiency and productivity to move toward B-level status.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to work efficiently, follow safety procedures, and use basic automotive tools.
  • Ability to follow work orders and technical manuals.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive engine systems and components.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Computer literate with good proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook, Office 365, UKG HR; able to complete documents, reports and accurately record information.
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and instructional.
  • Prove to be teachable and organized with the ability to manage multiple projects/tasks at once; able to listen and follow instructions.
  • Flexible to variable shift times and punctuality.
  • Valid driver's license - required.
  • Clean driving record and insurable by UGM driver safety program standards - required.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs - frequently.

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:
  • Equipment: Must own a comprehensive set of automotive hand tools.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Usually requires 0-2 years of experience or is a recent technical school graduate.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED; vocational training highly preferred.

REQUIREMENTS:
Union Gospel Mission is a privately funded 501(c)3 non-profit, evangelical Christian ministry. Our designated purpose is religious, and we are a Christ-centered ministry which is dedicated to sharing the Gospel and helping the homeless and impoverished. TASKS: C-Level Technician
  • Dispenses fuel, checks and refills fluid levels and changes oil and filters, as necessary.
  • Makes minor adjustments and repairs on equipment (such as repairing and/or replacing tires, head and tail lamps, muffler clamps, windshield wipers, brakes. and balancing wheels).
  • Checks equipment for defects (such as cracked or broken hoses or belts, worn tires, and inoperative lights).
  • Removes and replaces batteries.
  • Oils and greases equipment.
  • Test drives vehicles to ensure proper working order and delivers vehicles for servicing or refueling.
  • Cleans vehicles.
  • Cleans garage area and maintains shop equipment.
  • Disassembles and cleans vehicle parts.
