Job description

The Ahern Hotel & Convention Center is seeking an Audio Visual (AV) Technician to join our team.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Audio Visual Technician is responsible for the set-up, operation/engineering and removal of the audio visual equipment and systems with the Ahern Hotel, in addition to helping set up rooms and spaces per the client's request for events, meetings, conventions, etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Set up and install equipment such as microphones, speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, audio mixing boards, pipe and drape for events and functions such as concerts, sports events, meetings and conventions, presentations, and news conferences.
  • Set up and operate sound equipment for live entertainment events (bands, comedians, theatrical events, general sessions).
  • Load and unload vehicles for deliveries and pickups.
  • Confer with meeting or event director to establish cues and directions.
  • Interface with clients, ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure equipment is installed according to designated layout.
  • Diagnose and correct AV system problems.
  • Send in equipment for repairs as needed.
  • Test and clean AV equipment and store properly.
  • Use cellular phone for job-related operational tasks, job duties, review of company documents, etc.
  • Completion of all daily room set-up configurations for all parties and functions, based on details from the Banquet Event Order (BEO).
  • Daily cleaning, dusting, polishing of event furnishings, rooms and/or entrances on the property pertaining to an event.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities may be added at the Company's discretion.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • At least two (2) years of audio visual experience including audio, video, computers, lighting and rigging for live events preferred.
  • One (1) year of AV/theatrical technician experience preferred.
  • One (1) year of banquet set-up/strike experience preferred.
  • Familiar with wireless and wired audio sound systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complicated video connections (splitting/switching) preferred.
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot wired and wireless computer networks preferred.
  • Familiarity with Shure, Behringer, Allen & Heath, and conventional light fixtures preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills and attitude.
  • Able to work as part of a team or independently when needed.
  • Must be reliable, organized and punctual.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong desire to learn but not afraid of getting your hands dirty in the process.
  • Must be professional in dress, speech and manners.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification required.
  • Forklift/scissor/boom lift certification preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects up to 50 pounds without assistance and objects weighing in excess of 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
