Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedules, record, and upload City of Medford municipal meetings.
  • Produces multi-camera livestream coverage of off-site municipal meetings (outside of City Hall).
  • Assists members with in-studio productions as needed.
  • Manage digital archive City of Medford municipal meetings.
  • Performs other related job duties as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Any equivalent combination of the below-listed education, training, certification, and experience is qualifying.
  • Bachelors in T.V./Video/Film or closely related field.
  • High School Graduate plus 3 years of experience in video/film production, community programing, or related field may be substituted for degree.
  • 1 year of experience in video/film production, community programing, or related field.
  • Driver’s License (Required).
Beneficial:
  • Experience in public education and government access channel.
  • Experience with user switchers and PTZ cameras.
  • Experience with video production editing software.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of basic video production such as audio, editing software, setting up, and breaking down studio filming equipment, video procedures, lighting, and filtering. Broadcasting knowledge, including live television etiquette; Apple computers, PC, nonlinear editing, and digital media software; use of relevant equipment, various Blackmagic Devices, and assorted field mixers/audio consoles.
  • Effective use of Adobe products, photoshop, media player, and video production edition software; effective organizational skills; ability to prioritize; interpersonal communication; troubleshooting and improvising solutions when necessary.
  • Ability to help a diverse group of people, members, and residents; loading, unloading up to 30lbs, and setting up video equipment on site; being able to transition between an office and field work environment at any given time, working independently as well as on a team to meet deadlines; work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed; operate video production and electronic equipment.

  • Sony NXCAM camcorders.
  • Canon 90D DLSRs.
  • Vizrt TriCaster & Broadcast Pix switchers.
  • Castus Quickroll Multi Channel Multi Input Playout Server.
  • Various Blackmagic devices.
  • Assorted field mixers/audio consoles.
  • Basic A/V equipment (microphones, projectors, audio & video cables.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
The physical and environmental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.
  • Works primarily indoors in a community setting.
  • When performing administrative functions, sits or stands, with intermittent periods of stooping and walking; when in the field, stands or walks for extended periods and applies agility and physical strength to move in or about filming situations while carrying video equipment.
  • Field work, both outdoor and indoor, can range from low to high noise levels.
  • Applies motor skills to move objects, file, and sort documents, and use office equipment such as telephones, and computers.
  • Routinely reads documents for general understanding and analytical purposes, including handwriting and forms; inspects surroundings and fine details.
  • Switching, monitoring, and editing live public meetings means there is a possibility of exposure to the following types of content:
    • Foul language.
    • “Zoom Bombing” behaviors, including disruptive video and audio, sexually explicit content, and other types of intentionally offensive material.
    • Hate speech.
