Job description

Job Description  

Position Title: Teacher - Art

Position & Pay Type:  Teacher: Refer to Compensation Manual at our Career Website

Position Hours: Full-time; Monday Friday 

Reports to: Campus Principal 

Length of Term/Employment: 190 workdays / At-will 
 

Position Mission: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and  experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional,  physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to  function successfully in society. 
 

Position Minimum Qualifications: 

Hold at least a bachelor's degree and must present official transcripts that show  bachelor's degree awarded. 

Demonstrate competency in their core academic subject area. Must believe fully in the mission and vision of Jubilee Academies. 
 

Job Duties: 

Instructional Strategies: 

Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of school  curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare emergency lesson plan folder to cover 2 days of material. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning  styles. 

Present subject matter according to guidelines established to Texas Education  Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations. 

Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities,  materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and  needs of students. 

Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan  instructional activities. 

Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as  needed for SPED students according to guidelines established in Individual  Education Plans. 

Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives,  and methods according to district requirements.

Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aid and volunteers. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process. 

Participate in extended day and weekend school tutoring as required. Perform all other duties as assigned. 
 

Student Growth and Development: 

Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. 

Teach students to work toward self-discipline and responsibility. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and  informal testing. 

Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside  activities approved by the campus Assistant Director. 

Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school. Ensure good student discipline by being regular in attendance and on time. 
 

Classroom Management and Organization: 

Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate  for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. 

Maintain neat and orderly classroom. 

Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and  student handbook. 

Will use the discipline management plan to include but not limited to: o Ground rules, stated positively and posted so they may be easily seen.

  • A step process which includes reinforcement for appropriate on task behavior and consequences for inappropriate off-task behavior, which is  posted at all times.
  • A lesson agenda, which models task organization and time management  skills and insures total time planning in the classroom. 

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment,  materials, and facilities. 

Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. 
 

Communication: 

Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with  parents, students, directors, and teachers. 

Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and  community members. 

Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. 
 

Professional Growth and Development: 

Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. 
 

Other: 

  • Work week schedule: Work day begins at 7:30 a.m.
  • Adheres to staff dress code.
  • Arrive at first morning class 15 minutes before class bell.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with Jubilee Academies' staff and parents.
  • Actively participates in two school committees, and will chair one committee.
  • Keeps Jubilee Academies School Assistant Director informed of maintenance  problems.
  • Actively supports and participates in fundraising activities of Jubilee Academies.
  • Compile, maintain, and fill all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Actively stays abreast of new developments in education.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • May supervise assigned teacher aide(s) or volunteers. 

Charter & Community Responsibilities: 

Convey the charter's mission to the public and encourage support in  accomplishing the mission. 

Illustrate understanding of Charter and community needs and begin activities to  meet those needs. 

Demonstrate use of productive and efficient skills to raise community and parent  involvement. 

Actively participate in student recruitment efforts. 
 

Charter Atmosphere: 

Encourage a constructive, thoughtful climate for learning. 

Promote fairness of students and staff from all cultural backgrounds. Communicate with students and staff in an effective manner that promotes and  sustains the Jubilee culture. 
 

Working Conditions: 

  • Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: o Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Frequent and prolonged standing.
  • Stooping, bending, pulling and pushing required.
  • Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other  classroom equipment and supplies.
