Job description

The Job Do you enjoy having nights, weekends, and holidays off. JOIN OUR NURSING TEAM AT THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH. Our nurses work Monday through Friday, day shifts, with weekends and holidays off.

The Department of Public Health (DPH), Communicable Disease Section (CDS) is recruiting for Registered Nurse II - Clinic (RN II) who provide direct patient care. Duties include assisting physicians, nurse practitioners, and other medical/nursing staff by performing a variety of activities such as taking patient histories; providing patient follow up; performing screening tests; drawing blood; administering prescribed treatment and medication; providing immunization injections; and instructing, educating, and counseling patients on a variety of health care and medical topics. Duties will also include assisting with the receiving, storage, inventory management, and distribution of vaccines, medications, and supplies in accordance with established SOPs, cold-chain standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Communicable Disease Section The Communicable Disease Section (CDS) performs disease surveillance, implements infection control measures, and provides education designed to reduce or manage the rate of infectious diseases that are consistent with California law. CDS works to contain diseases by: Investigating reports of communicable diseases and outbreaks Providing case management services Facilitating lab testing to confirm the presence of disease Educating health providers and the public Monitoring disease trends EXCELLENT BENEFITS To review job-specific benefits, refer to: Summary of Benefits and the Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation. Continued Education: Additional training/coursework may be required. Minimum Requirements Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (CA BRN). Certification: Valid Healthcare Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate (Course Completion Card) issued by the American Heart Association.

RN II applicants must also possess the following experience requirement: Experience: Six (6) months of full-time equivalent experience performing duties as a licensed RN which include blood collection. Desired Qualifications Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills.

Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.
