Topeka, KS

Company has been in business since 1932 providing delicious snacks and dips across the world. Due to continued growth and expansion into the market, we are currently accepting applications for Apprentice Truck Driver CDL A Route Delivery to work within 30 miles of the distribution warehouse in the Topeka, KS location.
Compensation
The annual salary range is $85,000 to $100,000 plus per year which includes:

  • Activity-based pay (miles, stops, case unload, etc.)
  • Tenured drivers can make up to $130,000 per year.
  • Typically work 48-52 hours per week.
  • Weekly paychecks.

Work Schedule
  • Typically home daily but some overnights, approximately 20% of the time.
  • This is a 24/7 delivery operation; some routes include weekends and/or Holidays.
  • Days and start times will vary; work until work is completed, typically 10-14 hours per day.
  • Routes awarded by bidding board, based on seniority; typically takes 1-2 years to access most desirable routes.
  • Approximately 0-3 layovers per week; overnight stay in company paid hotel.
  • Make 2-10 stops per day; Routes cover surrounding states.
  • Must be flexible with work schedule, work schedule may change based on business needs.
  • TRAINING: Two-week in-office paid orientation training. Followed with 10-12 weeks of on the job driving/delivery training.
Responsibilities
  • Route delivery, driver unload, lift-gate, pallet jack, curve ramp, and 2-wheel hand cart.
  • Touch freight, case delivery of food-grade products to warehouses and end-users.
  • Drive CDL A day cabs with 53' trailers to transport materials and equipment to specific route destinations.
  • Secure pallets using straps and/or bars. Load securement at every stop.
  • Document pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Manage hours of service (HOS) and ensure DOT compliance.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Checking mechanical aspects of the vehicle.
  • Reporting maintenance/repair issues on tractors and trailers.
Requirements
  • Valid CDL license not required but preferred, issued by state of residency.
  • No CDL driving experience necessary. NEW GRADUATES ENCOURAGED TO APPLY!
  • Current DOT Medical Card and be able to pass pre-employment DOT drug and criminal background screen.
  • Be in excellent physical condition and be able to stand, sit, kneel, bend, lift, push, pull for extended periods and have normal use of senses.
  • Able to work in all types of environments and under difficult conditions; hot, cold, dust, indoors, outdoors.
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English.
  • Must pass pre-hire drug screen and physical.
  • Be able to lift, push, pull 15-20 pounds with no assistance.
