Job description

Mikes Mechanical is looking for a Plumber Apprentice. The Plumber Apprentice assists licensed plumbers in installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist licensed plumbers with installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, pipes, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Measure, cut, and assemble pipes using hand and power tools.
  • Help diagnose plumbing issues such as leaks, clogs, and system malfunctions.
  • Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and materials on job sites.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies while working.
  • Transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from job sites.
  • Learn to read blueprints, drawings, and plumbing layouts.
  • Assist with installation of sinks, toilets, water heaters, and other plumbing fixtures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Participate in training programs and coursework related to plumbing apprenticeship.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Hours

This is a non-exempt position. Work hours to be determined based on the needs of the business. Overtime may be required based on the needs of the business.

Competencies

Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time. Must have excellent organizational skills. Must have good oral and written communications skills. Observe all company procedures and safety rules. Work as part of our team to ensure customer satisfaction. Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED (or currently working toward one).

Interest in pursuing a career in plumbing or skilled trades.

Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

Basic math and problem-solving skills.

Ability to lift heavy materials (typically up to 50 lbs).

Valid driverโ€™s license.

Work Environment

Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. May be exposed to uncomfortable temperatures and/or conditions. Occasionally exposed to wet, snow, hot and humid conditions. Subject to dark confined workspaces such as crawl spaces and attics.

Physical Demands

Moderate to heavy working conditions. Be comfortable with and physically able to safely help lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, stand for long periods of time, bend, crawl and kneel. Must be able to lift 100+ pounds at a time.

Supervisory Responsibility

None. All questionable matters are referred to Supervisor.

Travel

Must have a valid driver license and clean driving history. Regular travel should be expected between Mikeโ€™s Mechanical Services and job sites. Travel to be expected primarily during normal business hours and during on-call shifts.
