Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Apprentice II and Mechanics with the application of various types of insulation, following instructions and guidance.
  • Work with a variety of insulation materials, including fiberglass, Foam glass, urethane, silicone, mineral wool, ceramic wool, and rubber insulation products. Install these materials using both hand and power tools.
  • Maintain and keep your personal toolbox updated.
  • Handle, distribute, and store materials safely and efficiently.
  • Review the written Job Hazard Assessment (JHA) after starting work each day. If a JHA is not available, notify the Project Manager immediately and perform your own visual inspection.
  • Keep the work area clean and dispose of waste materials throughout the day to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Prioritize job site safety and follow all safety procedures and incident reporting protocols. Report any concerns to the Foreman, Safety Director, or HR Manager.
  • Work independently and complete daily tasks according to the project schedule.
  • Have reliable transportation and be able to travel as needed.
  • Be available for out-of-town assignments that may include overnight stays for several weeks.
  • Be available for overtime, including evenings and weekends, to meet customer demands.
  • Complete timecards accurately and on time.
  • Maintain professional and respectful communication with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to report absences in advance whenever possible.

Role Requirements:

  • 0–2 years of insulation experience or as recommended by the Branch Manager.
  • A combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the required work.
  • Willingness and ability to perform manual labor by following verbal and written instructions.
  • Eagerness and motivation to learn new skills.
  • Ability to learn basic tool operations, safety procedures, types of insulation, and equipment usage.
  • Must complete initial safety training (12 hours), OSHA 10-hour certification, and annual refresher courses, including HAZCOM and fall protection training.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including climbing ladders and staging, working from aerial lifts, and performing tasks that involve standing, bending, twisting, lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy objects for extended periods.
  • Capable of working under adverse field conditions and in confined spaces, such as steam tunnels, ship and boat hulls, rooftops, and trenches.
  • Good manual dexterity (using both hands and arms) and the ability to move quickly and efficiently.
  • Stamina and physical endurance are essential for this role.
