Position: Apprentice Carpenter - Bridge

Job Overview: 

Hamilton Construction Co. is currently seeking an Apprentice Carpenter - Bridge to join our team. This position involves learning and assisting with the construction of bridge structures while participating in an on-the-job apprenticeship training program. Apprentices will gain hands-on experience working alongside skilled carpenters on heavy civil construction projects. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Punctuality & Readiness: Arrive on time each day, prepared to work, and anticipate schedules that may include up to 6-10 hour workdays per week. 
     Reliable Transportation: Ensure reliable transportation to and from the jobsite. 
     Safety Compliance: Follow all project safety rules and environmental regulations at all times. 
     Support Carpentry Work: Assist with forming and pouring of footings, walls, columns, and bridge decks. 
     Apprenticeship Participation: Participate in on-the-job training and skill development as part of the apprenticeship program. 

Requirements: 

  • Experience: Experience on heavy civil construction projects including bridges, highways, transit, and rail is preferred but not required. 
     Carpentry Knowledge: Background in forming and pouring footings, walls, columns, and bridge decks is preferred but not required. 
     Tools: Must have standard carpenter hand tools (power tools supplied). 
     Comfort with Heights: Must be comfortable working at elevated heights. 
     Physical Capability: Ability to occasionally lift between 50-100 pounds. 
     Work Environment: Ability to access all areas of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments. 
     Driver's License: Valid driver's license required. 
     Safety-Sensitive: This is a Safety-Sensitive Position, where impairment while working presents a substantial risk of serious injury or death. Drug screen, background check, and pre-employment physical are required. 

Wage Information: 

This position is part of an Apprenticeship Program. First Term Apprentices earn 55% of the applicable Prevailing Wage, with increases as apprenticeship terms are completed.
