Description Title: Lecturer (Sociology) Position Number: LECTURER Hiring Unit: College of Arts and Sciences / Division of Social Sciences Location: UH Hilo Date Posted: July 15, 2026 Closing Date: Continuous Salary Information: Applicable Minimum for the Academic Year Temporary/Permanent: Temporary Other Conditions: Lecturer applicant pool for Academic Year 2026-2027. Positions are part-time, temporary, non-tenure, and contingent upon course offerings, sufficient student enrollment, position clearance, and availability of funding. Must be available to teach courses during the day, evening, weekend, and/or via distance learning, as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities Teach assigned courses in the discipline. Prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress. Maintain a minimum of 1 office hour per week for each course taught.

Work under the supervision of department and division chairpersons in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Sociology or closely related discipline. Ability to teach the assigned course(s). Teaching or work experience in Sociology.Desirable Qualifications Doctoral degree in Sociology or closely related discipline

Demonstrated excellence in teaching Sociology courses.
