Job description

Description:Kennel TechnicianAMVC - Prairie Hills Animal HospitalPart time (10-25 hours per week)

Purpose: A new, state-of-the-art small animal practice and full-service boarding facility is seeking a part-time Kennel Technician to join our team. This position will provide day-to-day care and maintenance of the boarding facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service: Assist customers and communicate regularly in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Scheduling: Schedule boarders, including managing intake and discharge procedures.
  • Animal Care: Care for animals, including feeding, watering, and cleaning of eliminations.
  • Medical Alert: Alert medical staff of any medical concerns regarding boarders.
  • Enrichment: Responsible for boarder enrichment activities.
  • Medication: Administer medications as directed.
  • Maintenance: Keep the boarding facility clean and organized.
  • Marketing: Assist in marketing of the boarding facility.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as needed assigned by management.
  • Availability: Weekend animal care is required.

Qualifications

  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude and friendly disposition.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Experience in animal handling and proper care of animals preferred.
  • Previous experience in a boarding or kennel setting is preferred.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work effectively with others in a team environment but also be a highly self-motivated individual.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to walk and stand for long periods, potentially the entire shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working with large dogs, including walking them.
