Job description

Performs various daily activities relating to the farrowing and/or breeding of and health/welfare of swine. Performs duties including, but not limited to, monitoring house/room environment, care and feeding of animals, farm sanitation, animal health and well-being, safety and housekeeping, animal movement, animal science and husbandry, and animal tracking data and all associated paperwork.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assists in all operations and care/feeding of the animals. Ensures the welfare/well being of the animals.

Insures proper feed and supplies are on hand and follows standards for feeding and watering animals.

Identifies problem areas and corrects them immediately or reports them to their supervisor.

Ensures that all standards and procedures are known, understood and adhered to, as trained; including all safety procedures.

Develops and/or maintains proper record keeping tools for the animals. Completes regular reports in a timely manner and any variances are corrected.

Maintains all equipment and the correct environment in all barns at all times. All inconsistencies are identified and immediately rectified or reported to their supervisor.

Promotes teamwork and is an active participant of the farm's team.

Performs other duties as defined by manager.


SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends when necessary

ADA REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to walk, stoop, bend, climb, repetitive motions, see and distinguish colors, hear, and lift up to 50lbs.
