We're seeking a skilled and dedicated Anesthesia Technician to join our dynamic team and contribute to the seamless delivery of patient care. If you have a passion for precision, a keen eye for detail, and a desire to play a crucial role in the operating room, we want to hear from you!

This role performs a variety of functions to prepare and maintain equipment and supplies as needed by the Anesthesiologist.
Essential Functions

  • Understands and satisfies the needs of the neonatal, infant, toddler, pre-school age, adolescent and/or adult patient in regards to their growth and development process.

  • Prepares, assembles and monitors supplies such as IV fluids and tubing, catheters, breathing circuits, masks, electrodes, temperature probes, physiologic transducers and sensors, etc., prior to anesthetics, following standard procedures, anesthesiologist preference, and patient variables. Disassembles, cleans and restocks after each use.

  • Sets up, tests, calibrates, and provides dialing checks on anesthesia machines, first line maintenance and troubleshooting on all equipment used by the anesthesiologist, including ECG monitors, blood pressure monitors, temperature monitors, gas analyzers, defibrillators, anesthesia machines, ventilators, vaporizers, nerve stimulators, hypo/hypothermia machines, bronchoscopes, Doppler's, etc. Notifies clinical engineering of any issues. Disassembles, cleans and restocks after each use.

  • Provides options and alternatives on equipment and supplies to users and assists staff with equipment usage. Assists Anesthesiologist and or designees with intubation and IV insertion when requested.

  • Maintains intravenous fluids at the discretion of the anesthesiologist. May obtain and check/verify as "second role" witness blood and blood products. Assists with positioning patients.

  • Identifies and assembles the various types of intubation blades and fiber optic bronchoscopes as well as any other special equipment and supplies required for difficult intubation.

  • Keeps anesthesiologist apprised of the patient's blood pressure and oxygen saturation status.

  • Sets up and operates auto transfusion for designated cases according to established procedures.

  • Performs capillary punctures for POCT analysis. Run arterial and venous blood samples for POCT analysis. Informs provider of results of all POCT.

  • Maintains accurate department records such as maintenance logs or locator files according to established policies and procedures.

  • Assists Clinical Engineering in locating and removing equipment identified as needing preventative maintenance.


Education/Skills/Certifications:

  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required.

  • Completion of an accredited program in Anesthesia Technology (A.A.S. degree) preferred or relevant experience.

  • Ideal backgrounds would be EMT, Emergency Department Tech or Critical Care Tech.

  • Requires ability to understand and identify medical equipment problems and apply technical knowledge in the set-up and calibration of medical equipment.

  • Requires analytical skills in order to identify problems, troubleshoot and find the most efficient solutions to problems.

  • Requires interpersonal skills in order to interact with a variety of professional and technical personnel.
    - Must be able to walk, stand for long periods, over 80% of the assigned work period and lift and position equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council within 90 Days required.

  • CCCA-Certified Anesthesia Technician - American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians preferred

Hours: 5:50am-2:20pm

Must adhere to weekday, weekend, and Holiday on-call rotation with a 30 minute response time.
