Description
Custodians are responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the airport terminal and associated facilities. This position performs a variety of custodial and light maintenance duties, including cleaning public areas, restrooms, offices, and terminal spaces; replenishing supplies; responding to spills and safety hazards; and assisting with facility upkeep. Custodians serve as a visible representative of the airport and are expected to provide courteous customer service while adhering to all airport safety and security requirements.
Schedule: This position is scheduled to work four days per week, 10 hours per day, for a total of 40 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities
Cleaning & Appearance
• Clean and maintain terminal floors through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, buffing, polishing and vacuuming.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, partitions, mirrors, and fixtures.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
• Clean windows, glass doors, counters, seating areas, elevators, and high-touch surfaces.
• Replenish restroom and janitorial supplies as needed.
Facility Maintenance
• Perform minor maintenance activities and reporting repair needs.
• Operate custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, extractors, buffers, steamer and vacuums.
• Monitor facility conditions and report safety hazards, damage, or malfunctioning equipment.
• Assist with meeting room, event, or public space setup and teardown as needed.
Airport-Specific Duties
• Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming terminal facilities for passengers, tenants, and visitors.
• Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and other situations requiring immediate attention.
• Maintain awareness of airport security requirements and restricted-area procedures.
• Work cooperatively with airlines, TSA personnel, airport staff, tenants, and the public.
Exterior Areas
• Clean terminal entrances, sidewalks, curbside areas, and parking facilities.
• Assist with groundskeeping activities such as litter removal, snow removal, or landscaping, depending on airport needs.
• Maintain safe pedestrian access during adverse weather conditions
Safety & Compliance
• Safely handle cleaning chemicals and custodial equipment.
• Follow OSHA, airport, and departmental safety procedures.
• Report security concerns, unsafe conditions, and maintenance issues promptly.
• Maintain a professional appearance and positive customer service attitude.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
• Knowledge of custodial cleaning practices, methods, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to provide courteous customer service to passengers, tenants, and visitors.

Requirements
Experience and Education Requirements
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required; minimum six (6) months to one (1) year of custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, facility maintenance, or related experience preferred.
• Requires basic computer operations experience, including email.
Special Requirements
• Pass a pre-hire DOT drug screen and random drug and alcohol testing.
• Pass federal fingerprint based criminal history background check.
• Available for recall during non-duty hours for emergencies, snow removal or other required duties.
