These individuals often combine expertise in biology with skills in machine learning, data analysis, and programming to analyze biological data, develop predictive models, or automate research tasks. Weekend AI Biologists may be professionals looking to expand their skillset, students gaining practical experience, or hobbyists passionate about the intersection of AI and life sciences. Typical activities might include analyzing genomic data, modeling protein structures, or developing AI tools for laboratory automation. This role is ideal for those interested in leveraging AI to solve biological problems without committing to a full-time position.

What kind of projects does a Weekend AI Biologist typically work on, and how do they collaborate with other team members?

As a Weekend AI Biology professional, you may be involved in projects that apply machine learning and data analysis to biological datasets, such as genomics, drug discovery, or protein structure prediction. Collaboration is key—you'll often work with biologists, data scientists, and software engineers to design experiments, interpret results, and develop analytical tools. Regular communication, code sharing, and joint problem-solving sessions are common, even during weekend shifts, to ensure project goals are met efficiently. This environment offers opportunities to deepen your expertise in both AI and biological sciences while contributing to impactful research.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend AI Biologist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an AI Biologist, you need a strong background in biology, data analysis, and programming, often supported by a degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field. Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (such as TensorFlow or PyTorch), bioinformatics tools, and programming languages like Python or R is essential. Strong problem-solving abilities, collaboration, and effective communication distinguish top performers in this interdisciplinary role. These skills are crucial for extracting meaningful insights from complex biological data and driving innovation at the intersection of biology and artificial intelligence.

Job description

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.
