Job description

Position Summary
Acuren is seeking Electrical T&D Inspector to support operations in Cincinnati, OH. (RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE FOR QUALIFIED APPLICANTS)
The Electrical Transmission and Distribution Inspector is responsible for inspecting and verifying the construction, maintenance, and operation of overhead and underground electrical systems to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations. This role involves both office and field work, requiring strong technical knowledge and physical capability to work in various outdoor environments. This role supports utility reliability, wildfire mitigation, and public safety by identifying condition issues, compliance violations, and potential hazards.
Candidates must be knowledgeable in GO 95 and GO 165 inspection standards, with a proven background in field inspection, construction, or maintenance of utility assets.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct visual and structural inspections of poles, crossarms, insulators, transformers, conductors, and related components on transmission and distribution circuits.
  • Identify and document defects, clearance violations, deterioration, and non-conforming installation.
  • Record condition data accurately using company inspection software and mobile data collection tools
  • Verify equipment tagging, pole numbering, and asset location accuracy using GPS and GIS tools.
  • Perform ground-based and UAS inspections in accordance with inspection standards.
  • Ensure all work complies with General Orders 95 and 165, company procedures, and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with managers, safety teams, and QA/QC personnel to ensure high-quality inspection data.
  • Participate in daily tailboards, safety briefings, and job hazard analyses.
  • Comply with all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements, including GO 165 standards for periodic inspection.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and participate in daily safety tailboards
  • Identify and report safety hazards, environmental issues, and near-miss incidents.
  • Maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) and climbing gear in proper condition.
  • Promote a "Safety First" mindset across all inspection and field activities.

Other work duties as assigned.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, drawings, and construction standards.
  • Proficient in mobile inspection and GIS-based data systems.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork in various terrain and weather conditions.

EDUCATION:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical utility field inspection, line work, or maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of GO 95 (Overhead Line Construction Rules) and GO 165 (Inspection and Maintenance Standards).
  • Understanding of distribution and transmission system configurations and hardware components.
    Valid FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107) or equivalent regulatory certification for commercial UAS
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within assigned areas.

MUST BE ABLE TO PASS DRUG/ALCOHOL AND BACKGROUND SCREENS PER CLIENT REQUIREMENTS.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS & DEMANDS:
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
  • Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain.
  • Ability to climb ladders, poles, and structures when necessary.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs of equipment or tools.
  • Must have good vision and hearing (corrective aids acceptable).
  • Comfortable working at heights and in proximity to energized electrical equipment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions, bend, kneel, crouch, and stand for extended periods.
