Weekend Advocate information

What is a weekend advocate?

Weekend Advocates are professionals who provide support, guidance, or representation to individuals or groups during weekends. They often work in social services, crisis intervention, domestic violence shelters, or advocacy organizations, ensuring help and resources are available outside of standard weekday hours. Their responsibilities may include crisis counseling, providing information about services, and connecting clients to resources. Weekend Advocates play a crucial role in ensuring continuous support for people in need, especially during times when regular office staff may not be available.

What are some common challenges weekend advocates face when balancing high caseloads with limited weekend resources?

Weekend Advocates often encounter high demand for support services while working with fewer onsite resources compared to weekdays. This can require creative problem-solving and strong time management as you coordinate care, communicate with offsite staff, and handle urgent situations. Building solid relationships with community partners and having a thorough understanding of local resources can help you address clients’ needs efficiently. Collaboration and clear documentation are also crucial for ensuring continuity of care when weekday staff return.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend advocate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Advocate, you typically need experience in crisis intervention, knowledge of community resources, and a background in social work or a related field. Familiarity with case management software, hotline systems, and confidentiality protocols is often required. Strong active listening, emotional resilience, and effective communication skills help advocates support clients in high-stress situations. These competencies ensure that clients receive timely, empathetic assistance and appropriate referrals during critical weekend hours.

Job description

Service Advocate (Teller)

Our story started more than 60 years ago when eight employees from Coors Brewery established the Coors Credit Union. Throughout the past six decades, membership expanded as products and services were introduced with a focus on delivering first-class financial solutions.

On Tap Credit Union was born from this rich heritage in 2017 when we changed the name from Coors Credit Union, to include all beer manufacturers, employees and enthusiasts. In fact, On Tap Credit Union now serves members who live in surrounding Colorado areas and enjoy beer and the Colorado lifestyle. Our primary goals are to be more inclusive while preserving our heritage embracing quality, enhance our attention to detail and commit to the communities where we live.

We are not the 800-pound gorilla in the credit union universe, nor do we want to be. We are a robust financial institution with a paramount vision to craft financial opportunities and bring the dream of the Colorado lifestyle to every member of our community. No matter what our members' next adventure may be, we want to help them get there.

And today, we invite you to apply for our Service Advocate (Teller) opportunity.

Important skills and traits for this role:

  • Bring out the best in us. You'll help perpetuate our KEG of Excellence -- Kindness, Elegance and Genuineness to everyone who proudly promotes our brand now and tomorrow.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of products and services.
  • Exhibit focus, persistence, a positive outlook, and discipline.
  • Rock-solid communication and organizational skills.
  • Effectively work independently and in a team environment.
  • Maintain productive partnerships across all levels of the organization.
  • Set high standards of performance, quality, and accountability for yourself.
  • Adhere to all applicable state and federal regulations.

What you'll do:

  • Provide paramount member service by processing efficient and accurate transactions. Assist members with account and loan-related service requests. Possess a clear understanding of advocacy-based referrals by conducting high-level customer service.
  • Process transactions with the utmost timeliness and accuracy (deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, cashier's checks and other services.)
  • Process member requests such as wires, automatic transfers, notaries, etc.
  • Effectively manage member traffic flow in the branch.
  • Identify opportunities for continued financial success by referring our service partners.
  • Resolve and/or appropriately escalate member concerns.
  • Maintain the member's trust through honesty, commitment, information protection, and respect.
  • Tactfully question and actively listen to identify, then determine specific member needs.
  • Successfully work, interact, and be fully engaged in a team environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one year of cash handling experience
  • Experience in a financial institution or similar environment, preferred
  • Previous sales or customer service skills & experience, required
  • Regular and predictable attendance is a must!

Compensation:

  • $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Final base pay will be commensurate with candidate experience and qualifications.

Here's what's in it for you:

  • Growth and Development. Your input & influence could be invaluable in the department's development & success. Are you up for that challenge?
  • Benefits Worth a Double-Take. Besides medical, dental, and vision coverage, we've got PTO (paid time off) and financial loan programs to help you achieve your next adventure. And your birthday? We consider this a holiday too and give you a day off to celebrate!
  • 401k Perk. We'll jump-start your savings by matching your contributions (100% of the first 5% you invest). Those match dollars are pre-taxed and 100% vested the month following your date of hire.
  • Dress Code Extraordinaire. We've implemented a casual-dress work environment which includes On Tap branded gear, along with the option of beer gear to showcase our beer heritage and brewery partners. As a bonus, we also give clothing stipends to help you fill your closet.
