Job description

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager is a hands-on accounting leader responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions of the company. This role will perform and oversee much of the accounting work, including the month-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and supervision of the accounting staff. The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Controller, who will review financial statements, significant accounting entries, and key accounting processes. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being actively involved in the day-to-day accounting operations while helping support the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting analyses for review by the Controller.
  • Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and analysis to ensure accurate project costing and financial reporting.
  • Supervise the accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other accounting functions as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and maintain strong internal controls.
  • Assist with ERP system maintenance and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing accounting, the month-end close process, financial reporting, and WIP accounting.
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • CPA is not required; however, candidates should possess a strong technical accounting background and the ability to work independently with oversight from the Controller.
