What is weekend accounting training?

Weekend Accounting Training refers to specialized courses or workshops held on weekends, designed to teach accounting principles and practical skills to individuals who may be working or have other commitments during the week. These programs typically cover topics such as bookkeeping, financial reporting, tax basics, and accounting software. Weekend Accounting Training is ideal for those looking to upskill, change careers, or gain foundational knowledge in accounting without interrupting their weekday routines.

Job description

RLR, LLP is a growing full-service public accounting firm with offices in Northern Colorado and Southeast Wyoming. Our firm is one of the leading firms in the area focused on small business clients. By combining our expertise, experience and the energy of our staff, each client receives close personal and professional attention. We place a strong emphasis on providing excellent client care to our small business clients. We strive to maintain an ideal work/life balance while offering a wonderful learning environment, exceptional professional growth, and varied and challenging work. Our team approach to client service, casual work environment and flexible hours provides our team members with superior work life balance.

Our commitment to work life balance includes:

  • Professional staff members typically work 2,080 or 2,200 hour contracts or less.
  • Our offices are typically closed on Fridays from May through November -- a great opportunity for three-day weekends in the summer and fall.
  • Flexible work arrangements and environment, no mandatory Saturday work arrangements.
  • No overnight travel or long- distance travel. Travel between our three office locations is highly encouraged.

We are looking for a well-organized Tax Supervisor who can deliver excellent work while establishing connections with our current clients. Skills in staff development, being able to lead a group of professionals by example, and having time management abilities are all crucial.

The ideal applicant should be able to show that they can use their prior expertise and knowledge of taxes to make valuable contributions and help the tax department achieve its goals while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The ideal candidate should have exceptional process execution abilities and attention to detail in order to produce high quality work.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage client engagements from start to finish, which involves organizing, carrying out, leading, and finishing tax projects while successfully generating a valuable result for both the customer and the company.
  • Develop and execute tax planning techniques for clients while addressing client needs.
  • Assist with identifying new and additional service opportunities from current and potential clients.
  • Research tax laws and prepare tax memorandums on technical issues.
  • Have strong communication skills with the ability to apply one's understanding as to execution requirements.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work responsibilities to meet deadlines. Ability to complete work in an effective and accurate manner.
  • Supervise associates and senior associates, providing them with leadership, counseling and career guidance as appropriate and required.
  • Participate in mentoring, training, recruiting, retention and team-building activities.
  • Participate in developing and presenting internal training and seminars on technical issues.

The minimum qualifications for our professional tax staff positions are:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting (Masters a plus).
  • 4+ years of recent public tax accounting.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with preparation of all forms and schedules related to corporations, partnerships, individuals, trusts, and estate entities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and simultaneous projects in a fast-paced, interactive, results-based, team environment.
  • Experience with various facets of state & local taxation, compliance & advisory, including sales & use, personal & real property, franchise and multi-jurisdiction income tax (experience in other than multi-state income/franchise is valued but not required).
  • Excellent supervisory, organizational, problem solving, critical/analytical thinking, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent project management and presentation skills.
  • Excellent skills in using business computer applications and ability to work in a fully paperless environment.

You can enjoy a career in public accounting with professional growth opportunities and the work life balance you are looking for. Our firm growth curve is well above average -- which means real career opportunity for the right candidate with the goal of being a CPA for the long-term.

Benefits Include:

  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance Plans
  • Supplemental Insurance Plans
  • Employer Health Savings Account Contribution
  • Company Paid Group Life Insurance
  • Paid Time Off, Holidays, and Comp Time
  • 401k w/ company match
