Job description

Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Sr. Systems Integration Engineer to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Manager, Systems Integration & Test the Sr. Systems Integration Engineer will work within a multidisciplinary team to build, integrate, and test space vehicles at both the sub-system and system levels.

This role is on our Weekday shift (Monday - Thursday) from 6:00AM - 4:30PM.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design assembly and testing campaigns. 
  • Write, review, and execute assembly and test procedures. 
  • Manage work orders and drive nonconformances. 
  • Resolve electrical and mechanical issues, debugging at the satellite system and sub-system level. 
  • Responsible for enabling day-to-day execution of the vehicle integration and test flow. 
  • Evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration. 
  • Interface with engineers and technicians to advance to larger-scale manufacturing and automation. 
  • Design and develop tools and hardware to enable vehicle assembly and ensure vehicle testing abilities. 
  • The position will require being hands-on and will require standing for extended periods. 
  • Able to work on multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative, original solutions. 
  • Plans multiple projects simultaneously. Estimates, tracks, and completes project on time within budget. 
  • Results are key to successful completion of major projects and programs. 
  • Individual Contributor. Assigned multiresponsible task areas, may assign task to associate engineers or other engineers. Responsible for reviewing work. 
  • Is a subject matter expert on at least one system under specialty and with a detailed understanding of how multiple systems interact. Develops innovative solutions to unique problems. Professional abilities and technical accomplishments are recognized throughout the department. 
  • Works mostly independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Provides guidance to the group. 
  • Work is reviewed infrequently. Outcomes reviewed by department head. 
  • Exercises substantial initiative and judgment in work methods and in interpreting goals. 
  • Effectively train people outside work group.
  • Able to give effective presentations to critical and high-level customers. Effectively represent work group on review panels and crossorganizational teams. Can write convincing proposals and reports with all necessary backup material for external consumption.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance

Additional Differentiators    

  • Master's degree in a relevant STEM field
  • Experience with assembly, integration, and testing of propulsion, thermal, electrical, and structural systems, including, but not limited to, vibration, shock, thermal, vacuum, and radiation testing. 
  • Experience with electrical debugging of PCB assemblies, including the ability to read electrical schematics 
  • Documentation and configuration management experience 
  • Experience writing test plans and procedures and providing go/no-go judgment 
  • Experience in a production environment within the aerospace industry, particularly a cleanroom with ESD precautions 
  • The ability to read and write basic code in any primary programming language 
  • Experience using Linux-based operating systemsÂ
