Job description

Position Purpose:
Act as Captain (pilot-in-command) on Home Depot owned/leased aircraft. May hold Captain qualification on two (2) types of aircraft. As pilot-in-command, he/she is responsible for the safety, security, and comfort of passengers and crew.
Key Responsibilities:
  • 15% Function as Pilot in Command on Home Depot aircraft for the purpose of maintaining a high degree of technical competence and awareness of safe aircraft operations, anywhere in the world that includes the United States, Canada, Mexico and other international destinations.
  • 15% Must be able to fully perform all flight related duties. Provide guidance to flight personnel to assure safe, efficient and coordinated use of corporate aircraft.
  • 15% Responsible for the conduct of safe flight operations and the compliance of all applicable FAA regulations, as well as internal Home Depot policies.
  • 15% Maintain an understanding of the normal procedures, emergency operating procedures and all operating systems of the aircraft.
  • 10% Responsible for coordination and completion of all phases of assigned trips utilizing all available resources.
  • 10% Ensure that all members of assigned crew are fully qualified, properly rested, and prepared for flight.
  • 10% Flight follow with Flight Operations, communicating estimated times of arrival at destination, actual times of arrival, and status of the aircraft, crew, and passengers.
  • 10% Train co pilots to assist them in preparing for possible future Captain openings.

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
  • Typically reports to Chief Pilot.
  • No direct responsibility for supervising others.

Travel Requirements:
  • Typically requires overnight travel more than 50% of the time.

Physical Requirements:
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:
  • Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes or odors.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • An Associate's degree is preferred.
  • Five to eight years of experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a professional pilot flying jet aircraft with demostrated record of adherence to aviation safety and flight standards.
  • Minimum of 4000 hrs, 2000 hrs jet, 2000 hrs pilot in command.

Minimum Education:
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a associate's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
