Position: Veterinary Technician (CVT licensing not required) with our Neurology department.
Work Schedule: 4/10's, on-call rotation, 1 holiday/year
Pay Range APCAI/CVTII: $25.00 - $37.00/hour
*This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

  • Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p to 8a): $3.50
  • Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a to 6p): $3.50
  • Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p to 8a): $5.00

Our Neurology Veterinary Technicians help veterinarians with crafting and going over surgical plans and estimates as needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (e.g. radiographs, lab work), setting patients up for surgery, assisting with surgery, assisting with imaging (MRI, CT), discharging patients, and handling client communications. A rotating on-call schedule is required once training has been completed. Minimum of one year experience in a veterinary hospital. Specialty experience not required.
As a Neurology Veterinary Technician, you will:
  • Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
  • Calculates all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc).
  • Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia

  • Set up for MRI and CT procedures
  • Set up for spinal surgeries
  • Discharge neuro patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as manual bladder expression, sling walking, range of motion, etc. Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values
  • Perform call backs and refill medications
  • Client education, gathering histories and communicating that to the Clinician
  • Perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.

  • Understand normal vital parameters
  • Comfortable with IVC placement and venipuncture
  • Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
  • Restrain patients during consults and during diagnostics
