Kessler Institute for Rehabilitationย 

Position: Nutrition AssistantLocation: 300 Market St, Saddle Brook NJย  07663Schedule: Per Diem (PRN), (Includes Weekday & Weekend Shifts)

11AM-7PM / 9AM-5PM / 6AM-2PM

Compensation: $19.00 hourlyย

Responsibilities

A Nutrition Assistant performs numerous duties related to patient menu systems. Responsible for patient food service contact, patient menu management, obtaining patient menu selections, data collection, and communication of patient food service needs.ย ย  Follows standard practices and complies with regulatory requirements.ย  ย ย 

  • Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of the menu management system.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Prepare, assemble, deliver, and retrieve patient menus/ menu selections according to prescribed diets.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Assist patients in completing menu selections compliant with prescribed diet.
  • Offer alternative menu, as allowed on prescribed diet and in accordance with food allergies, food sensitivities, and cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Update and/or validate diet changes in the patient menu system with the most current diet order.ย 
  • Update and/or validate that menu and nourishment labeling are compliant with the most current diet order.ย  Create, print, and place menu labels as needed.ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย 
  • Communicates patient care and food service issues to the department.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Print and distribute reports, such as meal tallies, patient diet lists, and nourishment lists. ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Follow HIPAA and Joint Commission guidelines in accordance with organizational and departmental policies.
  • Perform clerical assignments in the Food & Nutrition office, including faxing, answering phones, filing, photocopying, etc.ย 
  • Maintains organization and efficiency of department office.ย 
  • Follows up with inquiries and requests in a timely and appropriate manner.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Maintain proper levels of office and menu supplies.ย  ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Attend in-services and other departmental-related meetings.ย ย ย 
  • Assists tray line, food service aides, or catering as needed.
  • Performs other duties as requested.ย  ย  ย  ย 
Qualifications

Minimum Requirementsย 

  • High school diploma or equivalent requiredย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย 
  • Previous office experience or equivalent requiredย  ย  ย  ย ย 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge ofย therapeutic diets preferred

Per Diem Requirement: Must be available to work Six (6) shifts per Six (6) week schedule; Three (3) must be on the Weekend (Saturday's or Sunday's).ย
