Key Responsibilities:
  • Learn and master a highly complex existing portfolio of applications that service the end-to-end process for vital statistics in New York City
  • Stay constantly in touch with team members and project leaders: daily check-in/checkout, technical discussions over slack, and active over email.
  • Create user personas, user journey maps, and other artifacts to document user insights and design requirements.
  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that meet user needs and business objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with development teams, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure that designs are feasible, scalable, and aligned with business goals.
  • Implement front-end designs in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Conduct manual testing efforts across new and existing features to find defects and opportunities for improvement
  • Be online and available every weekday during core hours of 10am through 4pm.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools, and techniques, and continuously improve design processes and methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting user research, creating user personas, and developing user journey maps.
  • Proficiency in Figma design tools (Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or other may be acceptable depending on level of expertise)
  • Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
  • Understanding of front-end development technologies, such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with usability testing and other evaluation methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate design concepts and ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with developers, project managers, and business owners.
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies is a plus.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in technology, design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or a related field.
