Manufacturing Maintenance Technician 3
JOB SUMMARY
Works independently to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, repair and improve manufacturing equipment, and mentor less experienced technicians. Daily activities to maintain the manufacturing equipment include performing PM's and monitoring equipment performance. Job duties also include troubleshooting and repair on mechanical, pneumatic; hydraulic, electrical, and controls systems with emphasis on automation, PLC's, and robotic devices. Identifies opportunities to improve equipment performance and ability to manage small projects on semi-automated or fully automated manufacturing equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Performs tasks in accordance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines including safety, GMP and cleanroom requirements.
  • Completes maintenance activities such as: advanced troubleshooting of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, controls and electrical systems to ensure that equipment and processes run smoothly.
  • Independently troubleshoots complex equipment with a high degree of quality and reliability.
  • Contributes to process optimization through equipment design improvements, improvements to operating and maintenance procedures/activities.
  • Ensures the calibrations are current on all machines and ensure proper operations after calibration
  • Continues to develop technical skills and knowledge (e.g. additional schooling, self-study, online training, and from more knowledgeable team members)
  • Mentors less experienced technicians to help build their skills.
  • Maintains a high level of knowledge of the manufacturing technologies, processes and equipment to provide support for all processes and equipment in all areas.
  • Responds and executes work with a sense of urgency and utilizes support systems to minimize downtime.
  • Completes tasks in a timely fashion and correct the first time.
  • Ability to be cool when working under pressure
  • Collaborates with engineers on complex problem solving
  • Proactively conducts investigations; recommends changes and upgrades to equipment
  • Manages equipment performance improvement projects.
  • Contributes to process validation activities.
  • Performs routine diagnostic checks on automated systems, monitor automated systems, isolate problems and perform repairs.
  • Assists in new technology or equipment specification, installation, and modifications.
  • Provides operation training on automated systems to maintenance techs and production operations
  • Works to support dept. KPI's/Metrics/Objectives

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • May be required to work on other shifts and to be "on call" as needed.
  • May lead special projects.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to non-production departments regarding projects, installations and repairs
  • Opportunities may exist for domestic/international travel
  • Requires adherence to policies and procedures for hazardous materials, LOTO, equipment guarding, robotic safety, biohazard.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education
  • Required High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous coursework/equivalent experience required in PLC's
  • Technical degree programs/certifications desired.

Experience
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in maintenance/technical support in a medical/GMP regulated environment.
  • Preferred experience in support of manufacturing

Skills
  1. Technical Skills:
    1. Highly proficient with tools, instrumentation, and test equipment.
    2. Proficient with metric and English measurement systems.
    3. Ability to read and understand complex mechanical, electrical drawings, flowcharts, and/or other drawings of a technical nature.
    4. Advanced Electrical/ Mechanical knowledge concerning machines and tools including design, uses, repair, and maintenance
    1. Can apply fundamental skills to troubleshoot areas that they are not necessarily subject matter experts on.
    1. Experience with RF Welding theory/process, Bonding, Ultrasonic welding, Hot plate welding, leak testing, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Manufacturing Environment requirements include: use of personal protective equipment, reading, speaking, hearing, walking, bending, standing, stretching/reaching, and hand/finger dexterity.
  • Must be able to work in a clean room environment, adhere to associated policies, and perform gowning of clean room attire in the allotted time prior to start up.
  • Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds, or transporting up to 500 pounds via cart or mechanized equipment.
  • Requires good manual dexterity and visual acuity including ability to distinguish colors.
  • Requires the ability to regularly perform repetitive motions and moderate force gripping.
  • Must be able to work under florescent/LED lighting.
