Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring 2 years of critical care/ICU and PACU experience.

Details
  • Work in the PACU unit of a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center teaching hospital
  • 38-bay unit with an average daily census of 70-90 patients
  • Patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients
  • Recover surgical patients from neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases
  • Does not recover open heart surgery or liver transplant cases
  • Unit operates 24/7 with dedicated PCT/transport support
  • Day shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM, working every Saturday and Sunday plus one additional weekday of choice
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating limited to PACU or PreOp units only
  • Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
  • Active MO or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • CCRN and TNCC certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU/critical care experience required
  • Level I and Level II Trauma Center experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Critical care skills required including artificial airway management, invasive monitoring (including ICP), blood product transfusions, and vasoactive drug administration
  • Skills required: dysrhythmia recognition/management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, ventilated patient care, and IV vasopressor administration
  • First-time travelers accepted if they meet the 2 years Level I Critical Care/ICU and PACU experience requirement
Additional Information
  • Responsible for recovery care of a diverse range of acute post-operative surgical patients
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility, as no local candidates are accepted
  • No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • Permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Travelers with 18 months of tenure must take a 3-month break in service before returning
  • Pending license accepted for consideration
  • Facial hair must accommodate proper fit testing or must be shaved with no exceptions
