Job description

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong communication - customer service skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Physical demands: Requires much walking, lifting, and physical exertion. Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of fifty (50) pounds. Requires full range of motion.
  • Maintains current BLS certification

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transports patients to and from their room, via wheelchair or stretcher, to Radiology or other departments as requested to include transport of patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, and special equipment.
  • Assist clinical personnel in transferring patients to and from beds, wheelchairs or stretcher as requested.
  • Approach, greet, and offer assistance and direction to customers entering the hospital.
  • Comforts patients and their families by offering support and encouragement.
  • Punctual and attentive to procedure schedules.
  • Demonstrates caring and cultural sensitivity.
  • Ensure patient is properly identified before transporting.
  • Ensure equipment is clean and working properly.
  • Handles daily routine problems, following proper channels of communication
  • Demonstrates good organizational skills for prioritizing and delegating
  • Assumes active role in department by participating in staff meetings
  • Understand the basic reporting system for position: Radiology Management, Radiology Supervisor, Charge Technologist, Sr. Radiologic Technologist, Senior Clerk
  • Adheres to radiology dress code
  • Maintains current BLS certification.
  • Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC's Service Standards into their daily work:

Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, andStewardship

  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:

  • Exposure to radiation hazards through radiology procedures
  • Exposure to body fluids through direct contact, IV procedures, infection and/or contagious diseases
  • Requires lifting, moving, pushing, pulling, prolonged standing
  • Provide multiple and directional guidance during procedures to patients with caring and compassion
  • Interaction with potential verbally abusive patients
