UES family seeks support in NYC,Westchester and Hamptons

Position Overview:

As a Houseman/Houseperson, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, comfortable, and tidy environment in a private household. Provide heavy duty cleaning support to housekeeper(s) as needed.

Essential Job Functions

Housekeeping (Interior and Exterior)

  • Heavy interior and exterior cleaning of all surfaces, including furniture, floors, stone, BBQ, wood and railings.
  • Cleaning of windows and chandeliers.
  • Cleaning of the gym and pool areas.
  • Maintaining and cleaning of garage and all storage areas/equipment areas.
  • Assist Housekeeper in overall house cleaning pre-visit and post-visit:
    1. Sweep, scrub, mop and polish floors.
    2. Vacuum, clean or shampoo carpets, rugs and draperies.
    3. Dust and polish furniture and fittings and clean metal fixtures and fittings.
    4. Empty and clean trash containers and dispose of trash in a sanitary manner.
    5. Clean wash basins, mirrors, tubs and showers.
    6. Wipe down glass surfaces.
    7. Make up beds and change linens as required and tidy up rooms
    8. Wash dishes and clean kitchen according to agreed hygiene standards.

Maintenance

  • Responsible for general household repairs (inside and out) and making sure that everything is in working order.
  • Monitor and report necessary domestic repairs and replacements.
  • Operate and maintain all cleaning equipment and materials in safe and sanitary working condition.
  • HVAC and water filtration system filter changing.
  • Maintenance of automobiles including but not limited to inspections and cleanliness of cars.

Reporting

  • Maintain a log of visitors, contractors and vendors, as needed. Keep copies of receipts from contractors and vendors as to what was done or received. Document any issues.
  • Liaise with vendors and contractors, and monitor completion of work required, as needed.

Security

  • Responsible for checking and securing home during work hours and end of day.

Teamwork

  • Work with other employees to prepare for events or parties.
  • Assist chef with meals and serve.
  • Coordinate with Estate Manager regarding work that has been completed or needs further assistance.
  • Answer phones and take messages for the household.
  • Cross train with other employees for coverage.

Miscellaneous

  • Events or party set-up and breakdown.
  • Assist chef with meals and serve as necessary.
  • Run errands as required by the Principals.
  • Food shopping and dry cleaning etc.
  • Sort and distribute mail according to Principals’ direction.

Requirements

  • Flexible to work weekdays, weekend and late hours and assist with parties and events when needed.
  • Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
  • Be able to reach overhead.
  • Be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time.
  • Be able to lift up to 100 pounds, pull and push.
