Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Endoscopy RN for a pediatric and adult GI/Endoscopy unit requiring 3+ years of ENDO experience and Cerner charting proficiency.

Details
  • Short-term acute care hospital setting in the Endoscopy unit
  • 1:1 patient ratios with pre/post and intraprocedural care
  • Day shift, 4x10 hours, 6:30 AM-5:00 PM with block scheduling options available
  • Unit performs Upper & Lower GI, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, EUS, ERCP, esophageal varices/banding, and pain management procedures
  • High patient volumes including pediatric cases (0 months-18 years) Monday through Thursday, and adult cases
  • On-call required: one weekday shift (5:00 PM-5:30 AM) per week and one weekend on-call (Friday 5:00 PM-Monday 5:30 AM) every 6 weeks
  • No weekend shift requirement
  • Float to PACU as needed within scope
  • 100% floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
  • Uses Cerner charting system (required) and Provation (preferred)
Requirements
  • Active RN license, IN or Compact, required in hand prior to start (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
  • Minimum 3 years of ENDO experience required
  • Pediatric, Bronchoscopy, and Cerner experience required within the last 2 years
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in administering and monitoring conscious sedation
  • Experience with EGD, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, and circulating/scrub duties
  • Familiarity with specialized equipment including balloon dilators, bronchoscopy cart, electrosurgical units, ERBE, forceps, and polyp snares
  • Ability to obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG and start/maintain IVs
  • 2 supervisor references required
  • Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care including pre-procedure prep, intraprocedural support, and post-procedure recovery including conscious sedation and monitored anesthesia care recovery
  • Administer medications including opioid analgesics as needed
  • Tuesdays are typically lighter volume days
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Free parking available on-site
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Indiana residents are not accepted for this position and local candidates are not accepted
  • Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers who have accrued 12 months of employment within IU Health must take a designated break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
